Liliana
Liliana is a recurring in-studio contributor and news desk co-anchor on Barely Informed News.
Overview
Liliana serves as an irreverent, sharp-witted desk partner opposite lead anchor Case Blackwell. Known for her direct, dry banter, she frequently punctures Case’s journalistic pretensions, scrutinizes studio staffing decisions, and assists in breaking down international wire copy.
The Year-Long “Vacation” & Return
Liliana was absent from Barely Informed News for approximately a full year before making a surprise return to the desk on the August 14, 2026 broadcast.
- The Vacation Claim: Liliana framed her prolonged absence as an extended, self-granted “vacation” or sabbatical. Upon returning, she playfully insisted that Case had called her pleading for her return because he was “helpless without you.” She presented a slideshow of travel photos directly on the broadcast feed and repeatedly demanded retroactive paid time off (PTO) for her entire year away.
- Control-Room Mix-Up: Network lore later held that her lengthy desk absence coincided with a period when Case had misplaced critical studio tracking equipment required for her on-air appearance; once the kit was recovered and calibrated, she was promptly restored to the newsroom desk.
Broadcast Role & Dynamic
- Desk Co-Anchor: Sits alongside Case during the main News block, co-reading headlines from Reuters and the Associated Press.
- Studio Gossip & Banter: Keeps tabs on internal newsroom politics, noting missing staffers (such as Sammy and Tyler), teasing Case about his experimental haircuts during her time away, and monitoring chat reactions.
- Hype Train Dispatcher: Frequently reads out incoming subscription alerts and network milestones from the studio monitors.
